Artist's Comments

Spent Thursday airsofting at a site I'd never visited before, called Alpha Omega.

The day was free, as are all their days, as they just run airsoft days for airsofters, and not for profit. It's all done on Forestry Commission land, with permission, obviously. The site is about 4 square miles in total - pretty impressive!

It was 'nice and cold' yesterday, never getting above -3 Celcius. Even my SPEAR fleece couldn't keep me warm at times, and a couple of times I had to warm up my CamelBak nozzle with my hands before the water would flow freely. On the plus side, at least it stayed cold.

First time I've run this loadout (Greenside US NSW, or 'Navy SEALs' to most of you ;)), and it worked really well - not much I'd change, really.

You could Raid your BDU and add some Velcro dude. Maybe add some IR patches.

Oh dude, maybe you should move your camelbak tube to the left side not your strong side, might bother you while you shoot.

I like the pack of cinnamon Altoids, that'll keep you warm on a cold day. Very nice picture, and it looks like you went all out on that M4. ACOG, PEQ laser (battery box perhaps?), and a vertical foregrip, very good kit. You should take a look at BlackHawk Tactical, they have some great gear for every season, and some nice fleece hoods. You painted the carbine yourself, right?

I just started getting back into airsoft myself. My friend invited me to command his team in the field. What state do you play in?

The Altoids tin actually contained my old camera (Pentax Optio S), which was used to take the photo and I forgot to hide the tin.

The AN/PEQ-II was a battery box, yeah. I hit it with Krylon paint myself. That rifle is long gone, mainly thanks to this very game - the gearbox sheared right open thanks to the cold, and it made more sense to break the gun and sell it rather than to replace it at the time.

I have another M4 now and I'll put photos up when the rest of the bits arrive in a couple of weeks - I'm going light and simple this time, so no optics unless I can score an EOTech from somewhere for cheap (and not a replica).

This pic is pretty damn old now. The vest has gone (although I miss it), and I have a proper issue watch cap now (that thing is as awesome as it is cheap).

What state? I'm in the UK... so none I guess, heh. I have some buddies all over the US, and I came across to NJ last September to play with them, which was pretty cool. Brought all my gear along and just borrowed an M4.

Shit, missed this since I was away at the time.

I have these BDUs RAID modded now - had it done a long time ago, but this photo is even older!

Camelbak tube was fine where it was. That said, I now always run it down my weak side. I guess there was something in this set-up that made me do it differently, but I don't have it any more so lord knows what it was...

I don't know, some of those EOTech replicas are nearly as good as the real thing. I know a guy who got one for $70 USD and uses it for paintball, and it's got a steel shell and has the same dot design as the real 552. Plus a real EOTech will run you up anything over $450 to $700. I don't really know the conversion from dollar to pound, but... It's cheaper for you guys. (Pains me to say that)

What are you doing with the new M4? Is it a carbine stock or did you go with a PDW? Oce you paint that up you're gonna have to put up a picture for us. I'm ordering a SOCOM 16 myself. It's just a cut down M14, faux wood stock and all. It uses a scout RIS mount, so I'm slapping a scope on it forward of the receiver. I can't wait to order it!

Offhand, what kind of camouflage BDUs are available to you over there? It's tough to find foreign patterns in the US, and I'm trying to get the team something distinguishable. I have a few mates over in Britian and I was thinking of having them send something over.

British DPM is EVERYWHERE here.

M4 is gonna have a RAS on the front, with a crane stock (eventually). Carry handle is staying. Vertical foregrip on the RAS, and an EOTech up front if I can afford one sometime in the future.
